The final project conference took place in Brussels

The final project conference took place in Brussels

The SRI-ENACT project organised a successful final event on 7 May 2025 in Brussels, in collaboration with the 6th Plenary Meeting of the SRI Platform. The joint event brought together key stakeholders from across Europe to reflect on achievements, share insights, and look ahead to the future of smart building readiness.
The morning session, moderated by Sophie Dourlens-Quaranta, focused on recent policy developments related to the SRI. Participants gained valuable updates on test phases across EU Member States, as well as the latest available SRI calculation tools and training materials supporting national implementation. The afternoon session, led by Laura Junasová, offered a comprehensive overview of the SRI-ENACT project’s outcomes. Stamatia Rizou presented the results from the eight pilot countries, highlighting both the successes and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
A special highlight of the event was hearing directly from eight SRI auditors trained during the project: Georgios Stravodimos, Camil Morar, Zdravko Georgiev, Mijenko Jagarcec, Edgars Augustiņš, Javier Martín Sanz, Petr Chmel, and Elizabeth Tew. Their presentations offered valuable, on-the-ground perspectives on the SRI assessment and training processes.
The event also featured pitch presentations from several sister initiatives, including:
  • iEPB EU Project – presented by Andrei Vladimir Lițiu

  • tunES – presented by Tatiana Novikova

  • SmarterEPC – presented by Cecile Barrere, PhD

  • SMARTeeSTORY Project – presented by Matteo Porta

  • EVELIXIA Project – presented by Sophie Dourlens-Quaranta

Introducing the Smart Readiness Indicator to the Real Estate Sector at MIPIM 2025

The SRI Cluster, represented by SRI-ENACTeasySRI, and Smart Square, hosted a session at the MIPIM conference 2025, one of the world’s leading real estate events. The session, titled “Smarter Buildings for a Sustainable Future with Smart Readiness Indicator”, highlighted how the SRI is reshaping the future of buildings across Europe and showcased tools developed through the participating projects.
Many thanks to Stamatia RizouParis Fokaides, and Paraskevas Koukaras for their excellent presentations and contributions to the event.

SRI webinar series: 5) SRI in a Broader Context: Its Links to EPC, BACS and Opportunities for Building Owners & Investors

SRI webinar series: 5) SRI in a Broader Context: Its Links to EPC, BACS and Opportunities for Building Owners & Investors

Buildings are among the largest contributors to carbon emissions, but reducing their impact doesn’t have to take years or require costly renovations. Smart technologies offer a faster, more efficient solution by optimising energy use, enhancing comfort, and improving overall performance. This is where the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) comes into play, providing a clear framework to make buildings smarter and more sustainable.

The SRI-ENACT project is hosting a five-part webinar series to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI)—from its foundational concepts to real-world building assessments.

In this fifth and final episode, we aim to give you a broader perspective on the SRI, explaining how it complements Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), its connection to minimum Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) requirements, and its role in renovation strategies. Additionally, we will hear building owners  perspectives on how they perceive the value of the SRI and the opportunities it offers for property owners and investors.

Who Should Join?

This webinar is ideal for anyone passionate about sustainability and innovation in the built environment who wants to learn about the SRI concept—whether you’re a professional in the field, a policymaker, or considering becoming an SRI auditor.

Agenda:

  • 14:00 – 14:05 | Welcome & Introduction by the moderator – Sophie Dourlens-Quaranta, R2M Solution, SRI Support Team
  • 14:05 – 14:25 | The Role of SRI in Smart & Efficient Buildings
    • How SRI complements EPCs – Sophie Dourlens-Quaranta, SRI Support Team, R2M Solution & SmarterEPC Coordinator
    • How SRI links to minimum BACS Requirements – Gusts Kossovics, EUBAC (European Building Automation and Controls Association)
  • 14:25 – 14:35 | The Role of SRI in Renovation Strategies: Renovation Passports- Eva Lucas Segarra, iEPBD Coordinator
  • 14:35 – 14:45 | Building Owners’ Perspective: How SRI Creates Opportunities for Property Owners and Investors – Jean-Marie Simon, EPRA (European Public Real Estate Association)

The SRI Cluster Report 2024 is Now Available

The LIFE CET SRI Cluster, established in November 2022, is a collaborative initiative bringing together four LIFE Clean Energy Transition projects—easySRI, Smart Square, SRI-ENACT, and SRI2MARKET—alongside CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency.
The cluster aims to enhance synergies between project developments and support the Smart Readiness Indicator policy implementation.
The SRI Cluster Report 2024 provides an overview of the activities carried out by four working groups, each led by a different project:
  • SRI uptake in target countries and engagement with authorities
  • Development of SRI tools to support market adoption
  • Enhancement of the smart-ready service catalogue
  • Joint communication and dissemination actions

The report highlights the progress made and the ongoing efforts to facilitate the adoption of SRI across Europe.
